The Grade II listed Main Building has served various purposes, including treating soldiers during both World Wars. In recent years, the hospital has become renowned for its specialist cancer treatment and support services.
From concept to completion, including assistance with securing project finance at project development phase, we supported the Trust with robust pre-contract cost planning, tender and contractor appointment, and post contract cost management and reporting across three packages of works designed to enhance patient experience and bring facilities up to modern building regulation standards.
Each package of works presented unique challenges, which were mitigated through close collaboration with the Trust, operational care teams, and project stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to critical hospital operations.
Works package A involved fabric repairs and internal refurbishment works to the Chemotherapy Unit, Chart Lodge and Cancer Outpatient departments.
Works package C involved asbestos removal, fabric repairs, internal refurbishment, and an upgrade to mechanical and electrical infrastructure on cancer wards 10 and 11.
Works package D involved fabric repairs and internal refurbishment works including a total upgrade of the on-site laboratory facilities in the Elliot Building hosting radiotherapy and nuclear medicine services.
