Originally built in the late 13th century God's House Tower as a Grade I scheduled monument, is the oldest purpose-built artillery tower in England.
By the 17th century, the building was repurposed as a house of correction and from 1786 until 1855 Gods House Tower served as prison housing inmates in harsh conditions.
Collaborating with Daniel Crow of ‘a space’ arts and with funding support from National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, we helped to transform this iconic 700-year-old building into a unique arts and heritage centre for the local community.
At concept phase our project development team and heritage advisors supported the funding application process and framed the investment ask. Leveraging their heritage experience our quantity surveying team contributed to the financial stability of the project and provided robust financial governance and reporting to investors.
As the project evolved during iterative design and delivery phases our project management and principal designer teams coordinated multi-disciplinary stakeholder requirements and oversaw the day-to-day activities of construction whilst guiding regulatory compliance.
