National Holocaust Museum

Challenging misinformation, stereotypes, and ideologies that fuel hate

The National Holocaust Museum, located in Laxton, Nottinghamshire, is dedicated to Holocaust education by fostering a community of critical thinkers.

As the UK’s first permanent museum, memorial, and education site dedicated to the Holocaust, it plays a crucial role in preserving the memory of the Holocaust and educating future generations.

From concept to completion, our project development team has worked diligently to ensure our client’s aspirations were fit for funding. We have successfully managed funder relationships, including the draw-down of funds against the completion of key project milestones. This meticulous approach has ensured the project’s financial stability and progress.

As project manager, we have led the multidisciplinary team delivering project Reaching New and Diverse Audiences with Stories of Survival and Safe Refuge in the UK. This initiative aims to expand the museum’s impact and reach by enhancing visitor facilities and creating new dynamic and flexible learning spaces. Our leadership has been instrumental in coordinating efforts across various domains to achieve these goals.

In addition to providing programme management oversight, we have offered independent project governance for the board and funders, including the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England who are financing the vision. Our role has involved providing clear outcomes and managing complex deliverables across a team of experts in interpretation and evaluation, design, construction, and activity planning.

Cultural and educational impact

Consistent with the goal of attracting a broader more diverse audience while preserving sensitive historical content, we are improving site-wide facilities and user access.

This includes the construction of a brand-new gallery designed to enhance the user experience for existing Journey Exhibits and the Broadcast Facility in the Pears Memorial Hall that enables remote visitors to enjoy an equally immersive experience. These enhanced facilities will ensure that our history is never forgotten and that visitors leave with a profound understanding of the Holocaust.

This nationally important facility ensures that lessons from previous generations continue to resonate today. Our team continues to work with the client and project stakeholders to maximise the impact of this culturally significant venue as it evolves. We strive to minimise disruption and maximise revenue realisation from normal operations, ensuring the museum remains a vital educational resource for years to come.
