Friary Outer Development

Transformative regeneration programme

Situated on the main thoroughfare into the city, this project to redevelop a car park into a commercial mixed-use development was the cornerstone of the council's regeneration strategy.

Appointed by S Harrison Developments our team worked collaboratively with the client and multiple stakeholders; Bromford Housing, Lichfield District Council and the contractor, to manage the contract and ensure the safe, timely and efficient delivery of this complex scheme.

The location always meant that we had to be sensitive to archaeological considerations and minimise disruption to neighbours, and local community, whilst upgrading highways infrastructure, diverting existing services, and constructing the new buildings.

Economic and social housing boost

Parking, which is essential to supporting tourism and the local economy hasn’t been lost.

The new scheme included a 400-space multi-storey car park, within easy walking distance of the city centre, as well as affordable housing for people with assisted living needs, a 79-bedroom hotel for Premier Inn, and restaurant.

With our head office situated in Lichfield, it was especially rewarding to be involved in a project that has both social and commercial impact in our community.
