Since incorporation in 2004, Greenwood Projects has remained privately owned and operated by the directors. Being in private ownership for over 30 years has enabled the company to reject a commercial model that puts profit ahead of people in favour of a people first approach.
This approach has framed a largely organic growth journey with non-organic growth focused on targets who share our vision and values and recognise the benefit of a stronger together offering for clients.
Graham Greenwood and Terry Hearn founded Hearn and Greenwood in Birmingham. A small quantity surveying practice working primarily in the housing association sector.
In 2004 Greenwood Projects Ltd was incorporated by David and Debbie Crump as a project management consultancy. David and Graham had previously collaborated on several projects and agreed that working together, as sister companies, provided a stronger together offering.
We merged with Hearn & Greenwood to formally create a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy practice.
We relocated to our current Head Office in Lichfield, Staffordshire. A bold move to create capacity ahead of realising growth aspirations.
With a vision to build a regional practice with local people embedded in the communities they serve, we acquired the UK operation of Bridgewater & Coulton. An established and well-respected quantity surveying practice, based in Worcester.
Responding to awareness of our specialist work in the heritage and third sectors, and increasing demand nationally, we established offices in Oxford and London enabling us to consolidate relationships and service projects more sustainably.
In keeping with our social impact agenda, we launched our Fit For Funding service. With an extensive network of social impact funders we are now supporting some of the most high-profile projects anywhere in the UK.
Responding to the national skills shortage in the construction sector we launched our apprenticeship programme. A five-year commitment to each apprentice, we provide a flexible and supportive programme of formal study and work experience.
We entered our first strategic partnership. The owner directors were approaching retirement and looking for a trusted partner to protect their legacy and provide continuity of care for long-standing clients. Over the course of 18-months we worked to integrate the business.
The successful integration of Mildred Howells was a catalyst to opening an office in Cardiff which has enabled us to continue to increase our local presence over time.
We moved from Bristol to Bath. Only a short hop, to ensure continuity of support for local clients in Bristol, but responding to growing demand for our services in the southwest.
