Overview
The Royal Armouries, Leeds houses a large collection of arms and armour in five themed displays. The collection comprises some 8,500 artefacts which date from around 450BC to the present day. A great deal of care had to be taken with these historical items which remained in situ whilst construction was taking place.
The project was complex with regard to undertaking all of the construction works whilst the museum stayed open which presented a number of operational challenges that the project team had to work around.
The project provided some impressive displays for these antiquities and gives an educational insight into the history of Britain and the development since Roman times.
Greenwoods provided project management, quantity surveying and CDM Advisor services for this project.
