Overview
Fort Nelson, a Victorian Gun Fort, is home to the Royal Armouries’ collection of historic cannon and large artillery. The project is partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and will provide improved facilities to the site, including a new visitor centre and café, main entrance and children’s play and activity area. The new facilities will have interactive displays and provide an exciting experience for visitors to the museum.
The museum is the oldest publicly funded museum in Britain and one of the oldest museums in the world.
Fort Nelson is a grade II listed building and a scheduled ancient monument. The project is part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Greenwoods have provided advice to the Client and managed the grant application process. We continue to liaise with the project monitor on the Client’s behalf.
Greenwood Projects provided project and cost management services and CDM Co-ordination on this project. Greenwoods also acted as contract administrators for this project.
