Overview
This unique project involved emergency repairs and restoration works to the 19th Century J. Taylor & Co Bell Foundry in Loughborough. This is one of only two surviving bell foundries in England.
Bells have been cast continuously on the site for over 175 years and are installed in many of the world’s most famous cathedrals and churches.
The buildings urgently required maintenance, particularly to leaking roofs and insufficient rainwater drainage. Partly funded by Historic England the first phase of the works included roof structure and covering repairs, lead work, roof glazing repairs or replacement and masonry and timber repairs.
Greenwoods provided Quantity Surveying Services to the trust and working closely with the design team, Client and Historic England to provide best use of the funds available.
