Overview
The Walronds is a Grade 1 listed house on an ancient burgage plot in Cullompton Town centre, Devon. Although of medieval origin the main part of the house was built in the late Tudor period between 1570 and 1605. It has a very fine interior with oak panelled rooms, elaborate plasterwork ceilings, decorative over mantels and a wealth of other detail. Although continuously inhabited, its main C16 fabric has been little changed.
The key objectives of the restoration project werethe retention of the principal ground floor rooms by the Collumpton Walronds Preservation Trust and their letting for meetings, functions, events and a range of educational and community activities. The other key aspect of the project is the conversion of the upper floors into a high quality holiday cottage which is managed by the Vivat Trust
Greenwood Projects were commissioned to provide full Project Management / Officer Support to the two trusts along with Cost Management, Commercial Services and CDM Advice. Greenwoods also undertook a specialist task for the trust in managing and advising on the OJEU procurement process to comply with English Heritage procurement regulations.
