Overview
This project was part of a £1.8bn regeneration programme for North Solihull and saw construction of the first of fifteen new village centers. The work consisted of the construction of six new retail units around a large new public open space, incorporating car parking, streetscape, and commercial office space along with public realm works which formed part of a new high street.
This followed development of the adjacent new Kingfisher Primary Cchool which Greenwoods completed in 2011. Further phases included a new Health Centre and Extra Care facility.
The project was funded in part by the European Regional Development Fund and was procured and managed under ERDF procedures.
The project was split into two contracts between the building and the public realm and as such the interface between the two elements had to be managed carefully, with two contractors and professional teams working on adjacent parts of the site. The Client was made up of multiple stakeholders and Greenwoods worked closely with funders, user groups and the Local Authority to co-ordinate the scheme.
Greenwoods acted Employer’s Agent and CDM Advisor for this project as well as overarching support to the Partnership’s Development Director.
